I read this last night, and the story stayed with me all day. I really do love the "right" kind of Harry/Scorpius story, meaning it's important for me to see Harry really grapple with the attraction. I know you didn't tell us Scorpius's age (which was a great idea, btw!) but for me, he was either 15 or 16, which *really* explains Harry's very real and appropriate distress. And (I'm going to hell for this) I find it crazy (disturbing) hot. Which puts me right in Harry's shoes as I read, even though the story is told form Scorpius's POV (who I also empathize with, but for me, it's mostly Harry).
I love the framework Maggie gave you to write it. The "have sex or die" element makes this okay (both "morally" & squick-wise). Harry is clearly aroused (he gets an erection well before actual penetration) and he's able to climax, but he does NOT want it to be happening. And there's no "falling in love" at the end, which I really appreciated. I don't like H/Sc fics that have Harry falling "in love" with Scorpius (perhaps as opposed to "in lust") because imvho they're very ooc as far as Harry's concerned. This story, on the other hand, is completely OC and believable.
I love so many things about this: as I already said, I love Harry's grappling with the situation (the touch of the Obliviate at the end was brilliant! And cruelish despite Harry's good intentions). I love how this wasn't easy (Scorpius's emotionality which is very much at odds with his assertions that he's not a child - he must've seemed VERY much like a child to poor Harry). I also love how the physical aspects weren't easy or comfortable. I loved how Harry tried desperately to draw the line between needing to do something and wanting to do something. I loved Scorpius's yearning to be kissed and held, and how sad it was that Harry couldn't give that to him without crossing boundaries he doesn't want to cross. Harry tries to keep it all as non-sexual as possible, but of course he can't succeed. Scoprius comes and Harry's clearly affected - and excited, despite himself.
I could go on and on :) This story *really* worked for me on so many levels. I don't know if it says something really creepy about me or not (hey, this is fantasy, right?) but this story could work for me even if Scorpius is as young as 14 (no younger though!) . . .
A really fabulous story - one of the few H/Sc I can really enjoy and believe and not feel too too much like a dirty old woman after reading :) Good job!
