Claiming and Scheduling

A quick FYI for those of you still planning to sign up for hp_kinkfest, we are once again taken by surprise by the popularity of this fest. :D

We currently have 75 prompts claimed! We are fully scheduled for weeks 1-3 and week 4 is filling fast. That means that anyone signing up at this point is going to get scheduled into the week of Feb 15th and beyond.

So far everyone who has submitted a claim has received their first choice unless we have commented to tell you otherwise. So go write your porn. ♥

You will be receiving an lj comment with your scheduled posting date asap.

OMG, that was quick! I'm on my way to Paris to meet up with Brammers and Rai and thought I'd think about this on the way - clearly a flawed plan. :D Does the deluge of claims mean you'll be closing early, or is there still time for those of us who won't have a brain until maybe Friday?

Nah, we aren't looking to close the claiming early. It just means that the people who claim later get later posting dates, and have less prompts to pick from (only 399 left!) So you don't need a brain until Sunday at midnight... or well after midnight Paris time. ;)

Once I'm done writing my first prompt I would like to claim a second prompt. How does this work? Do you want proof of the finished story before one can claim another? Does the story need to be beta'd and ready to post before that?

Yay! We're happy you're so excited you're already planning your second prompt claim.

Whenever you're finished with your first fic, feel free to comment on our claiming post to claim another prompt. You don't need to prove that you've finished your first fic; we'll believe you. (We just didn't want people snagging a bunch of prompts and not letting others have a shot at their first choices.) As for when to make your second claim, that's up to you. Your first fic needn't be one hundred per cent ready for posting, but of course we'd recommend that you have it as close to ready as possible.

Nope, you don't! The 20th is a cutoff date for initial sign-ups only. You're welcome to claim a second prompt after that time.

I have a new goal to read at least 1/2 of all fics posted in a fest or exchange. This new goal is to start in jan.

I think this fest will be a great one to try it out!

ooh, ooh. In regards to the above question. If you did not claim a prompt in first round, is there going to be a 2nd round for prompt claiming?

That's a great goal! And we should have lots of great fics for you to enjoy. :D

As per your question, we're not planning a second round of prompt claiming - we have several participants who want to write more than one fic, so we've told them it's fine to claim another prompt if they finish their first one.

You're only an hour past the deadline though, and we're not all that strict, so if you'd like to claim a prompt that would be fine. ;)
