Call for kink-friendly Betas
We expect many of you are (or soon will be) at the point where you require a beta but might not know anyone who would be comfortable with your chosen subject matter. Because of that, we are asking for kink-friendly betas to offer their services to those in need. Kinks you consider your specialties:
Squicks/kinks you won't read:cruelty, torture, anything really extreme with permanent bodily damage isn't my thing. I don't like humiliation. That said I'm a big fan of hot consensual bdsm, mild punishment type kinks. It's all about where you draw the line, isn't it?
Beta strengths: good with SPAG and positive feedback, although I can be pretty blunt at times, so you should be prepared for that too. I've read a LOT of H/D so I'm familiar with the do's and don't's in that fandom. I like to beta and don't do it much, so don't hesitate to give me a try. My turnaround time is pretty good. I cannot britpick.

Kinks you consider your specialties: I have written multiple fics involving noncon/dubcon/rape, so I feel pretty comfortable with this topic. I've beta read fics with extremely detailed BDSM before, and I've written about necrophilia.
Squicks/kinks you won't read:Mpreg, extreme chan (meaning under the age of 7 or 8). That's basically it. I can handle pretty much anything else you throw at me.
Beta strengths: I'm great with spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc., but I'm not British, so you may need a separate britpicker. I can help with characterization/major plot holes. I'm pretty honest with mistakes/areas that sound weak, but I always point out what you're doing well, so I'd say I'm a pretty fair beta.

Kinks you consider your specialties: I'm a generalist. I particularly like stories with issues of consent and ambiguous motives, but I can also beta your happy consensual adults having only slightly deviant sex, and still enjoy the process.
Squicks/kinks you won't read: None. I don't enjoy necrophilia, and have yet to find a scat story to make me a convert, but I will read anything if there is a sexual intent. Yes, anything.
Beta strengths: Grammar, flow, inconsistencies, I'm North American, but can britpick enough to point out your non-British slang. I'm pretty good with canon, if that matters to you.
Note: I'm already committed to beta'ing 3 stories for the kinkfest, so can only promise 2-3 more, and can't do any fast turn around until after Jan 15. But don't let that make you shy away, I'd probably love to beta your story, I just want to be realistic about my commitments.
EDITED: I can't take any more stories until mid February, unless your kink is causing you real trouble finding a beta due to squick issues.

Kinks you consider your specialties: There's not much I am not familiar with, but if it comes to the nuances of BDSM lifestyle stuff, then it's probably beyond my ken. I'm good with Moresomes/swinging/poly.
(not really a kink, but, fyi): I'm big into character exploration, delve into the psyche stuff (my psychology/mental health background/interest rearing its head!), and I like realistic, flawed, human relationships.
Squicks/kinks you won't read: I'll read pretty much anything, it just doesn't mean I'll enjoy it or seek it out, but I can still read for proofing and whatnot. I prefer fun, hot, sex-positive stuff, but I've both read and written darker stuff. Wildly OOC is frustrating to me.
Beta strengths: (SPaG, characterization, britpicking, etc.) I'm a Perfect Imagination certified beta, and I'm good for SPaG, flow, plausibilty, and a modicum of britpicking on the superficial level. But, in the name of all that is decent and holy, if you don't at least run a spelling and grammar check on your stuff before I get it, that will set off my "Danger, Will Robinson!" alarms--and nobody wants that. *snort* Otherwise, I'm pretty good at being diplomatic and supportive and positive. Grad school (complete with practicum AND internship) is about to start up again, so I may not be able to do instant turnaround, and if we're looking at 10k+ words, that might be a bit too much for me to take on at one time. I'm a Snape and Hermione fan, and feel really at home with their characters, whereas there are other characters that I don't feel like I would have a good grasp on their voices. Of course, if you contact me, and I give things a shot and you think it's not working out, I'm pretty easy-going about that and won't feel rejected. ;D Yay, kinkfest!
