Date announcement and banners for pimping

First, thanks to everyone who participated in the poll! We're still looking at the results and deciding how we want the fest to work, but we know two things for certain: 1. Sign-ups will begin December 15, and 2. Posting will start January 26. This gives everyone at least five weeks to write, more if your posting date is later. So mark your calendars!

Second, if you'd like to pimp the fest (or just have some pretty kinky photos to look at), we've made several banners! They're mostly non-graphic, but still not safe for work, so we'll post them under a cut. (If any of you have jobs where these images are considered work safe, could you put in a good word for me? *g*)

ETA: You know, you all aren't required to cut the banners if you don't want to. ;)

Hmmmn. Much as I enjoy high heels visually, the fact that all the women are wearing massive heels in all these images does rather imply that if you're a woman no heels = no kink, and I know from personal experience that this is absolutely not the case. Moreover, at all female kink events pretty much nobody wears heels (yes, there's a whole lesbians-flat shoes thing going on, but it's also because the high heels kink is about eroticizing mainstream ideas of femininity that many queer women reject). So my guess is that is for pimping to femslashers (or at least to this femslasher) you'll want at least one f/f picture or at minimum a lady without the heels, because the women here are shouting heteronormativity at me like whoah. Maybe something like this (and, yes, it seems I have a hitherto unrealised thing for rope bondage and chairs!)

I'm sorry, I had not even noticed that. You're absolutely right. The exclusion of heel-less women was unintentional and completely my fault; I have a bit of a heel kink, as you may have noticed, and the photos of women I save tend to show those women wearing heels. Thank you for bringing this to my attention; I'll rectify the situation asap. :D

Oh no, I didn't mean it as a 'blame' thing at all, especially since I agree that heels are hot (hello Louboutins!). I'm just keen to see more kinky femslash, so I figure it's good to spread the net as wide as possible ;-)

We are definitely in agreement! I am all for attracting more femslashers (actually, I tried to make these as orientation-neutral as I could, showing individuals rather than couples). And anyway, this gives me a good excuse to make some more fun kinky banners. :D

You = awesome. It's funny, these photos set of a sort of strange echo of thought in my head. On the one hand - Yay, girls! So often, women are completely overlooked, ignored or flat out banished in the corner of fandom I inhabit. So, I was glad to see some images of women. On the other hand, they are pretty much all mainstream, conventional images of female sexuality. Even the Femdom image is of a conventional, skinny, rather delicate looking, naked for your pleasure woman (in heels). So I went back and forth a lot in my mind.

(This isn't a criticism of the mods, just my personal thoughts.)

I hope you know me well enough to recognize that I was not trying to imply that only high-heeled women can be kinky, or only young women can be sexy, or only thin women can be sexy. I trolled the internet for a few hours and found pictures that I found visually striking and had plain backgrounds (so I could put the text there). I liked the old-fashioned feel of that first fem dom one. I liked the simplicity of the girl in nylons. And I thought that one where the girl is shaded black and the background is colorful was just a really neat effect. The fact that they were all slender women in heels was not the driving force, though in retrospect I ought to have noticed it.

So I apologize for the inadvertent slight. After Woldy's comment, I went back to make a few banners of women without heels. I can do the same for you, if it would make you feel more comfortable taking part in the fest.

I know, lovely, I was just describing my reaction to the images. I even used the femdom one to pimp in my LJ. And mostly I was just happy to see lots of girls.

Don't change them on my account, I'm going to do the fest regardless.

I know you were, and it was a fair reaction. I'm mostly just frustrated with myself because I don't want people to look at these and think, "oh, this is what Lindsay thinks kinky people look like." It's not, these were just my favorite images. I'm sure you noticed the lack of slender young males, and it's not at all because I don't like pretty twenty-something boys. (You know it's not. *g*) And now I do want to make banners with women that don't meet the young and tiny stereotype, and I want to make banners with men who do, and now I'm noticing that there aren't any banners with minorities and they were just meant to be for fun, I swear!
