ANNOUNCING: HP Kinkfest Round 9

We have listened to your feedback on Dreamwidth and Livejournal (thank you, everyone) and realise this is a fest a lot of people enjoy so it would be a real shame not to run it again in 2018. On that basis, we are delighted to announce that after much consideration, Harry Potter Kinkfest will be back for Round 9. The timeline can be found below and is similar to the timeline for the previous rounds, with the difference that the fest will run for two weeks with a third ‘catch-up’ week. Your moderators for this round are writcraft (moderator in 2016 and 2017) and kitty_fic (new moderator for 2018). Thank you to Kitty for coming on board!

Prompting Opens: Tuesday 2 January 2018.
Claiming Opens: Monday 8 January 2018
Fest Posting: Monday 19 February 2018
Catch-Up Week: Monday 5 March 2018

For the first time, Kinkfest will run across three platforms. Tumblr (@hpkinkfest), Dreamwidth (hpkinkfest) and Livejournal (hp_kinkfest). You can sign up and prompt via any of the three platforms, with the one fundamental, non-negotiable rule that all participants must be aged 18 or over. All fic will be hosted on Archive of Our Own in the HP Kinkfest 2018 collection and art will be hosted either on Archive of Our Own or on the artist’s personal Tumblr, or both, at the artist's discretion. No matter which platform you follow the fest on, you will have access to all of the fest submissions as the moderators will work to ensure the relevant links are provided on each platform. For 2019 we may be phasing out our Livejournal participation due to the updated TOS and as a result we highly recommend you follow our Dreamwidth journal and/or fest Tumblr.

This will be HP Kinkfest’s ninth year and it is always a great way to dust off the cobwebs after the holiday fests. We are trying to accommodate the ever shifting platforms of Harry Potter fandom, but we also want this fest to remain the safe space it has always been for its participants. The ethos of the fest has always been about indulging our love of fetishes and kink. A thoughtfully written kink fic or piece of art that really focuses on showcasing a particular kink or fetish can be a real treat. Our goal is to facilitate people eager to writer or draw lesser showcased kinks and fetishes and we want this fest to be fun and accessible to everybody who wishes to participate.

You will be able to prompt in the usual manner via comments on the prompting post which will go up on 2 January on Dreamwidth and Livejournal or via the ask function on the fest Tumblr. All prompts will be collected HERE and this document will be accessible to everybody and updated daily when prompting opens. You will be able to claim via Google Forms on Tumblr or by responding to a screened claiming post on Dreamwidth or Livejournal. Claiming posts will go up on 8 January.

Sorry for the late reply to this! Glad you found the answer which is yes, you can absolutely claim your own prompts or simply sign up to write your own idea (i.e. you don't have to prompt the idea you want to write if you know you want to claim it). I'm sorry you had to go hunting and I'm excited you have an idea :D

This may be a weird question but is there a reason why there are not example prompts on the example list?

Do you mean in the google doc I've linked? That will end up being the prompting list and there are a number of prompts already in there which I can see. Are you having troubles seeing the prompts?

When the prompting post goes up tomorrow there will also be an example in the body of the post

Oh, example het prompts? No, you're not being silly! I hadn't populated it with all my example prompts yet, I put the het one in a little bit ago so it might not have been there when you looked. Het is absolutely welcome and encouraged!
